Took pictures this weekend of a little practice at DFWAP (DFW Adventure Park)

I got to spend the day at DFW Adventure Park, it was nice visit, since I hadn't made the drive out there in ages. Got to see some old faces and new faces. I ended up taking pictures of a local team there and some of their buddies on and off the field. It was a hot day with little to no arguments and a lot of fun. Thank you DFAWP and UGK for letting me come out and take pictures. Please enjoy.

After a nice long day out at Camp Pendelton shooting for the guys over at Make it to Sunday (check out my photos from the day on their site), I had a few hours to spair on Sunday so off to ASG to shoot my new camera.

First the good news I spoke to Mike Hinman (you know the guy who created the WCPPL) and they just finished ripping out the turf from SC Village and has delivered it to it's new home at ASG. Thats right that killer turf from the WCPPL is being layed out this week at ASG.

With the ASG Affiliate coming up on June 13-14th the park already fast becoming the place for tournament paintball is going to be looking even better than ever with a total of two turf fields.

I have noticed that I have been shooting out at ASG a lot and have not been giving much of the other local SoCal fields much loven. Look if you are one of those teams hitting up Whittier, SC Village, Hollywood Sports, the Compound, Gycko or any other number of fields out here in the area and have more than four teams headed over to practice let me know because I want to shoot at more places.

MSG Paintball is always a great time. Today was awesome. A lot of great games were played today, and the MSG Paintball staff/owner are very friendly/welcoming people. Games ran smooth and the field was being maintained after every couple of games. I had a great time at MSG and always have whenever I went there.

Thanks for a great day MSG,

First off I would like to welcome our latest Chrono300 crew member Jake Mullen of Dallas Texas. Just a heads up we are now at six photographers so keep an eye out for more paintball photos from coast to coast in our goal of promoting the sport of paintball.

The Black Hawk Down scenario event was held at Official Paintball Games of Texas. The event was to help paintball team Texas Roughnecks collect toy for the Toys for Tots Foundation.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the pictures,

Michael

Hotter than Africa, flys included. SC Village at the beginning of summer what could you expect? The WCPPL came back it Corona and cow country (don't you just love the smell of cow in the morning?) for event two after being moved from Gecko Paintball Park due to unforeseen issues.

After the first event raised the bar so high for how to throw a great tournament, Mike Hinman and staff had a big task at hand. The event grew from 29 teams to 41 so growing pains had to be expected. With the same amount of fields (two) and the same amount of days (two) squeezing the 10 games for each of the teams was going to be tough to say the least.

Saturday got a late start thanks to players not having ID cards, roster changes and simply not checking in on Friday. With most of the teams being from Southern California I just don't understand why these people would rather worry about checking in on the day of the event instead of walking the fields. But whatever, look just don't pin that on the staff of the WCPPL.

Once the games started it was pretty much nonstop paintball. The refs down on field one (better know as “the pit”) was made up of players on both Aftermath squads with field two being made up of mainly of NPPL main field refs. Both fields ran smoothly with very little time between games, in fact with the heat I was amazed they did not drop.

Speaking of the refs, if you are throwing a tournament you may want to come check out a WCPPL event. Look most refs if have seen this year do little more than stand on the sidelines calling out players by pointing their finger at the player and saying “your hit” hardly ever walking on the field. I am sure there are threads from players over on PBNation that used to being reffed in that manner complaining on the amount of penalties because they are used to playing in these other leagues. Mike and company are bringing the fun back into paintball by keeping the playing on and making hits go bye-bye almost impossible. How can one tournament do something that no others could do? Well placing ten refs on the field was the simple solution that no one has been able to figure out. Sure this is an added cost but it made for a much better event for the players.

Vendors are another one of the areas that grew for the second event. For this event returning to hock their latest wares was KM Straps (who does not own at least one of these by now?), Make it to Sunday, Tiki Paintball, Dan Won and his killer custom jerseys and last but not least PBFashion and their world famous HK head bands. Joining in this time was CC Paintball and Black Star (check out their new 09 jersey it is sick). But missing was any major company like JT, Dye and Planet Eclipse to name a few. I am hearing all kinds of reasons why they are not stepping up to the plate to join in supporting this league and it really sucks (sounds like what was happening to the NPPL in the past years.....I am thinking the big dogs want to own the leagues they support and that sucks for the players).

As all way I am not going to post who placed what because I want you to visit wcppl.com and check out what they have to say. But I have got to say the finals again had some of the best games I have ever seen. For those of you that witnessed event ones finals this one again went over the top. The one game that stuck out to me was the second game in the finals with Surge playing the Mikey and the Hitmen. Off the break the Hitmen pretty much took the entire fifty's across the field in the first thirty seconds of the game with each team loosing a single player off the break. Surge tucked in to the smallest packages ever crossing it up and held tight for the next five minutes slowly picking off a few of the Hitmen players as they tried to break the Surge cross. With less than 40 seconds left the Hitmen made a last ditch effort to push the field and Surge made a lunge to take back the snake side and shoot out the remaining Hitmen players ran down grabbed the flag and made the hang with under a second left winning the D2 title for the second time.

I am going to wrap this up by saying Mike Hinman pointed out a few weaknesses in the event and said that by event three they will be fixed. I know that does not sound like much but when have you heard a promoter push harder and harder to make the perfect event (not just a good event). With 24 thousand dollars in cash for prizes how much longer are we going to see this as a “local event”? I don't think that there is any series that has looked this good and showed so much promise in the future. While the other leagues are down sizing this event will grow (the guppy may grow to eat the big fish).

Thanks for taking the time to read my babble and poor grammar along with poor spelling!

Look it is way late and I am way tired but I have posted the photos from day one as promised check them out in the gallery or better yet head over to SC Village and see how things unfold as the event comes to a close.

By the way I am having a blast at the event even though Corona California is hotter than Africa and there are enough flys to piss off a lion.

Today was an event I have been looking forward to for a while as Adrenaline Force Tournament Series event 2 hit the field at ASG. What not to expect to find in the gallery is the usual turf field because this event was played on the dirt field. Ok not what you would expect in the days of turf fields but it is not the playing surface that makes for a great event.

A little info on the AFTS, things have changed since event one up at Giant Paintball Park in Victorville as the series format moved away from ramping guns. In my opinion it is for the better as this series is for the true beginner in both five man and three man formats. But this series has a twist that really makes it stand out as each team is aloud a single coach on the field to call out positions and movement. Sounds a little like the PSP without ramping right? Well it kind of is but not really as only a single coach is aloud to talk off the field while the sidelines keep quiet.

If you are a rookie player in SoCal check out the AFTS website for info on where the next event will be and for scores from the event.

Keeping up ahead of the pack Luke maintains his galleries for the same day of the event. Keep checking back for more images as the event comes to a close at MAO 2009.

chrono300

Luke is at it again bringing yet another huge gallery so make sure you have lots of time to go through them all. Sounds like the event is turning out to be great and all of the paintball pictures from MAO is making me with I was over on the East Coast shooting .

Be sure to check back each night because Luke stays up until the photos are ready to be put online. And if you get an extra minute be sure to swing by Lukes thread on PBNation and drop him a line.

Well as promised more photographers more images. As you will find here Luke Johnson went all out shooting his first day at a major event. So hold on to your seats as Luke throws out a major amount of photos each day as the event unfolds.

Yes this is out of order hidden below the PSP event that ended today, I just don't want to make a practice seem more important than the 2009 MAO event over on the East Coast. Heck I am just happy that you are able to find photos from the event here (BIG THANKS TO LUKE YOU ARE THE MAN!!)

Ok no big suprise this weekend I was at ASG again (15 minute drive ya baby!) but I would have been there even if it was a two hour drive because of the ammount of teams that sold the place out. I would even question if they did not over sell the field for the day but serriously they made it work (that would be selling it short, the fact is they made it run super smooth as always).

With 14 teams polishing up thier games before the WCPPL's second event I decided to make a day of it and try and shoot it like an event (hell some tournies would be happy to draw 14 teams these days!) So in the gallery you are going to find a little of everything of just about everyone. I hope it comes across like I had hoped it would and you find everything to be fun.

Next Saturday I will be back at ASG for the second event of the AFTS -

Shoot you there ---- Michael

Today was very nice out, but a bit too hot. If I gathered all the sweat that left my head today I think I could of made a lake. Anyways, it was a great day. The field was a bit wet from being watered down, so whenever I was taking pictures, I was in a mud puddle. I hope everyone had a great time, because I certaintely did!

Thanks Again for all the Support

Again out trying a few different things out at ASG getting ready for round two of the events. This weekend I did have a bit of a special treat as Finn brought his boys up from San Diego to get a workout (or deal one or two beatings lol). From the looks of it the WCPPL's next event is going to be real tough in D2 because everyone is looking so strong, Surge is going to have to step it up yet another notch if they want to hold on to the crown for another event (not to mention the $6 grand cash prize).

I will not be at the Riot due to the cost of going up north but I wish all of the teams luck headed up to the event. But in better news Luke is going to be out at MAO shooting the PSP events second event of the season. Those of you heading out be sure to introduce yourself and get some photos taken by my newest star. Check back for more photos this weekend from all three of us.
